But First, What’s Flipboard?

Flipboard is a social news collection and content curation platform that allows users to discover and share articles, videos, and other media from a wide range of sources.

Users can create personalized magazines by collecting content on topics they are passionate about, making it an excellent tool for both content consumers and creators.

Flipboard functions like a digital magazine rack, enabling users to flip through a variety of content.

You can follow specific topics, publishers, or other users to tailor your feed to your interests.

For blog owners, this means that by curating relevant content and sharing your blog posts, you can reach a targeted audience who are interested in your niche.

What To Do On Flipboard

1. Create Your Own Magazines

Creating themed magazines on Flipboard is crucial for attracting a dedicated audience interested in specific topics.

These magazines serve as curated collections of articles, videos, and other media that align with particular themes or niches, making it easier for users to find and follow content that interests them.

Here are a couple simple steps on how to create and manage your magazines:

  • Creating a Magazine:
  1. Log in to Flipboard and click on your profile icon.
  2. Select “Create Magazine” and enter a title and description that reflects the theme.
  3. Start adding content by flipping articles, blog posts, and other media into your magazine.
  • Managing Your Magazines:
  1. Regularly update your magazines with fresh content.
  2. Organize articles into different sections if the magazine covers broad topics.
  3. Use tags and keywords to improve discoverability.

As I’ve already mentioned, you should tailor your content towards a specific niche so as to have a targeted audience. But if you don’t know where to start, here are a few examples of effective magazine themes for your Flipboard:

  • Technology Trends: Curate the latest articles on tech innovations, gadgets, and software updates.
  • Health and Wellness: Share tips, research articles, and personal stories about fitness, nutrition, and mental health.
  • Travel Adventures: Collect travel guides, destination reviews, and personal travel experiences.

By maintaining well-organized and thematic magazines, you can attract a loyal readership that appreciates curated, high-quality content related to your followers’ interests.

2. Curate Content

Curating content on Flipboard involves selecting and sharing articles, videos, and other media that resonate with your audience.

The key to effective curation is to consistently provide high-quality, relevant content that aligns with the themes of your magazines.

Here’s how to do that:

  • Find Quality Sources:
  1. Follow reputable publishers and influential voices in your niche.
  2. Use Flipboard’s search and recommendation features to discover new content.
  • Balance Your Content:
  1. Mix your own blog posts with third-party content to provide a comprehensive view of the topic.
  2. Share articles that add value and complement your blog’s content.

Balancing your own blog posts with curated third-party content is essential for maintaining audience interest and authority. Sharing a mix of content helps to:

  • Build Trust: By sharing high-quality third-party content, you position yourself as a knowledgeable and reliable source.
  • Expand Reach: Featuring content from other creators can attract their followers to your magazine.
  • Enhance Value: A well-rounded magazine that covers multiple perspectives and sources is more valuable to readers.

  1. I just started using Flipboard and I’m trying to get familiar with it. I would like to join some group magazines but it’s not as easy as it sounds. They are hard to come by and when I do request an invite no one responds. I guess I’ll get into a few eventually
